Welcome to Prairie Fire Bengal Cats
Hello and WELCOME to PRAIRIEFIRE BENGALS.
I would love for you to take some time and browse through our
website. It has a great deal of
information in it, so you may want to come back and check it out over and
over.
But for now, I’d like to introduce you to my Bengal story!
I first saw a Bengal cat online.
I hadn’t planned on looking for any cat in particular, I just decided
to randomly search for interesting looking cats and I happened to come
across a BENGAL.
I had NO IDEA what kind of cat that was!
I had never seen one or heard of one in my entire life!
But when I saw the cat, I couldn’t believe my eyes!
THAT was a house cat???I thought to myself!
I further investigated I found that the Bengal
in the picture was a queen looking for a home.
I had certainly not planned on buying a cat, because, well, I am
allergic to all cats! But
because this cat was SO beautiful I contacted the owner; I wanted to know
about this amazing looking breed.
Three things stood out to me as I researched them.
- Bengals are Hypoallergenic,
well, at least as hypoallergenic as a cat can be.
I immediately thought that the person was telling me this as a
joke – no cat could be hypoallergenic!
(Boy, was I wrong.)
- Bengals love water.
Once again, I sincerely thought that the person trying to sell me
the cat was exaggerating. I
knew from my (extremely limited) experience that NO CATS LIKE WATER.
- Bengals are playful even into
adulthood! My wish, as a
child, was to have a kitten. (which never happened).
Incorporated into that wish was the wish that the kitten would
STAY a kitten! When I
actually got to play with cats as a child, I always played with kittens,
if that was an option! I
loved their playful nature and enjoyed interacting with them. My
experience, even as limited as it was, was that cats grew up and became
aloof and snobby.
This was, of course, coming from someone who had NOT had a lot of
exposure to cats, growing up.
But I was absolutely sold on Bengals!
After some consideration, my husband and I both thought it was worth
getting to know these cats a little better.
We bought that beautiful cat that I saw in the ad and I have to tell
you that EVERY one of my assumptions took a nose dive!
Bengals ARE hypoallergenic and I have had NO reactions to the cats,
they even sleep with me. My
Bengals LOVE water, and jump into the bath regularly!
And, of course, they are perpetually playful!
We enjoyed her so much, we found a mate for her!
We have enjoyed the kitten process immensely!
It has been a great joy for me to find others who knew as little as I
did and educated them, the way I was taught by my Bengals.
So, please, stay a while.
